The volunteer program at Southwinds, Inc. is comprised of several options: from working with residents in our homes, to assisting with special events. By sharing your time and talents, individuals from the community can become a vital link between our residents and the communities in which they live. Individuals can volunteer in the following ways:
SPECIAL FRIEND
Special Friends are needed to share a one-to-one relationship with our residents. Careful matching of volunteer and resident is followed by training and consultation with agency staff.
SPECIAL FAMILY
Special Families are needed to share a one-to-one relationship with our residents. Careful matching of volunteer and resident is followed by training and consultation with agency staff.
SHARE A SKILL OR TALENT
Volunteers share a skill or special talent with one or more of Southwinds residents. Volunteer commitment can be on an ongoing basis or just to complete a project. Activities could include: holiday crafts, sports, cooking, gardening, needle arts, music, painting, etc.
HOUSE PROJECTS
A group of individuals from a company/organization or a family can work to complete a house project such as painting or planting. This can include planning a holiday party.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Special event volunteers serve on the committees that plan and execute Southwinds special projects like the Annual Spring Craft Fair or other public relations and fundraising events.
COMPARISON SHOPPER
Site Managers often do not have time to do careful comparison shopping for our houses or residents. You can help by using your time and sharing your shopping skills to help us find the best quality items at the most economical price.
